Llareta and me
Llareta and me

Llareta, Azorella compacta, is a alpine cushion plant of the Central Andes, growing above 13.000' and common at 16,000' in southern Peru where I first encountered it, always on rock outcrops. Although the guide books call it a moss and it does look moss like, it is in fact in the carrot family with small white flower heads, aromatic carrot like seeds, and the whole plant gives of a sweet aroma when scratched.
